Prawn masala

Delicious side dish made of prawns, Green pepper and Indian spices is suitable for rice or any Indian bread. King prawns is a good choice for this.

Serves : 4-5

Ingredients:
  • King Prawn - 500g
  • Green pepper (Capsicum) - 1/2 of medium (optional)
  • Onion - 2 medium
  • Tomato - 3
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 2 tsp heaped
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 1 for medium spicy or 2 tsp for extra spicy
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Green Chilli - 2 (optional)
  • Tinned coconut milk -1 tblsp or 50ml thick coconut milk (optional)
  • Tomato puree - 1 tsp (optional)
  • Coriander leaves chopped - to garnish
  • Oil - 3 tblsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Water - as required

Method:
  1. Remove the shell and vein from the prawns; Rinse them thoroughly.
  2. Cut green pepper into 1 inch squares. Chop onion, tomatoes, chilli and coriander leaves.
  3. Heat oil in a pan on a medium heat.
  4. Add onion; saute them on a medium heat until they become translucent.
  5. Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for a minute.
  6. Add tomatoes, chilli, turmeric powder, chilli powder, green pepper, salt, tomato puree and coconut milk; Stir for about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Add about 1/3 cup of water and let it cook until the onion is cooked well and soft.
  8. Add prawns, stir and cook for about 2-3 minutes.
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves.

Notes:
