Chapati

Chapati is an Indian bread made with wheat flour. Chapatis are the staple food for many Indians and they can be enjoyed well with the tastier side dish.
Preparation Time : 10-15 mins

Cooking Time : 15-20 mins

Ingredients:
  • Medium wheat flour (Atta ) - 600g + 100g for rolling
  • Warm water - 200ml
  • Warm Milk - 200ml
  • Salt - to taste
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 25-30ml or Butter - 25g (optional)

Method:
  1. Place the 500g of atta in a wider bowl.
  2. Mix the water with milk and add it to the bowl of atta.
  3. Add salt and sugar.
  4. Knead well with the remaining 100g flour and more flour if needed; leave it aside for atleast 1 hour.
  5. After about an hour, take about 3cm ball of dough and roll it to make a ball.
  6. Make as many balls as it comes.
  7. Take a rolling pin and a mat.
  8. Dust both of them with the atta.
  9. Dust the dough ball with the atta as well.
  10. Roll it into a flat chapati.
  11. Heat a tawa(flat pan) on quite high heat.
  12. Brown the chapati on both sides.
  13. Add oil/butter if needed when browning on both sides.
  14. Chapatis are ready to be eaten.
