Cabbage with Meat & Dhal

Cabbage with Meat & Dhal is a special occasion dish. Meat and cabbage's taste blend well with each other to make the cabbage taste good with the meat flavour.

Main Ingredient : Lamb/Mutton Vegetables
Recipe Type : Dinner Lunch

Ingredients :

 

  • Cabbage medium - 1/2
  • Boneless lamb finely chopped - 200g
  • Channa Dal - 1/4 cup or 50g
  • Onion - 1 medium
  • Tomato - 1
  • Ginger-Garlic paste - 2 tsp
  • Green Chilli - 1
  • Fresh coconut milk - 100ml or a thick tinned coconut milk - 2 tblsp
  • Cinnamon - 1 inch long
  • Cardamom - 1
  • Oil - 3 tblsp
  • Coriander/Mint leaves - few sprigs for garnishing

Spice powders:

  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp heaped
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin (Jeera) powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp


Method :
  1. Soak the dhal for about 30 minutes.
  2. Heat a 1l pressure cooker pan on a medium heat.
  3. Add oil. When the oil is hot enough, add cinnamon and cardamom. Fry for 1/2 a minute.
  4. Add onion, tomato, chilli and ginger-garlic paste and stir well. Fry them for about 4-5 minutes.
  5. Add the chopped meat and fry them until they are brown.
  6. Add the chopped cabbage and all the spice powders.
  7. Stir and fry them for couple of minutes.
  8. Add the soaked channa dal and coconut milk now.
  9. Cover and cook for 2-3 whistles.
  10. Garnish with chopped coriander/mint leaves.​


Notes : Pls remove the cardamom before serving the dish.
