Paruppu Chutney

It is a good combination for many curries, Indian porridge and rice.

Main Ingredient : Beans/Pulses

Ingredients :

 

  • Mung dal - 4 tblsp
  • Dried red chillies - 3
  • Grated coconut - 1 tblsp
  • Onion - 1/2 of small
  • Salt - to taste
  • Water - as required
  • Crushed Chillies - 1/2 tsp (optional)


Method :
  1. Chop the onion and grate the coconut.
  2. Heat a pan.
  3. Add mung dal and dried red chillies and fry for about 4-5 minutes on a medium heat.
  4. Remove them from heat and soak the dal alone in water for about 10 minutes.
  5. Grind the dal, chilli into a smooth chutney with grated coconut, onion and about 2-3 tblsp of water.
  6. Garnish with crushed chillies.
​Pls note: Use Small red onion instead of large onion for the added taste.


Notes : For a added flavour, you can smoke the red chilli directly on fire for a minute. Serve it for Rice porridge, Tamarind rice,Garlic curry or Rasam .
