Pasta Bake

Pasta cooked and baked in the oven with king prawns and tomato sauce make a delicious meal on winter days.

Ingredients :

 

  • Pasta (Penne) - 250g
  • Tin Tomatoes - 400g
  • Onion - 1 small
  • Garlic - 2 big cloves
  • Dry basil - 1/2 tsp or Fresh basil leaves chopped - 3 tsp
  • Cayenne pepper or chilli powder - 1/2 tsp (optional)
  • Black pepper crushed - 1/2 tsp
  • King Prawns - 100g
  • Medium Cheddar Cheese - 100g
  • Salt - to taste
  • Water - required to cook the pasta
  • Cooking oil - 1 tblsp
  • Olive oil - 2 tblsp


Method :
  1. Peel and chop the onion and garlic finely; Grate the cheese; Wash the prawns and cut into big pieces; Grind the tomatoes with all the tomato sauce in a tin into a smooth sauce.
  2. Switch on the oven to 180° celsius or 350° farenheit.
  3. Boil the water with salt in a tall pan and cook the pasta to the al-dente (bit crunchy) texture, drain it and keep it aside.
  4. Heat the cooking oil in a pan on a medium heat; add the chopped garlic and onion; fry for few minutes.
  5. Add the ground tomato sauce, basil, salt, crushed pepper, chilli powder, king prawns and grated cheese; stir well.
  6. Add the cooked pasta and stir.
  7. Switch off the pan and empty the contents of the pan to the oven proof wide rectangular dish.
  8. Cover it with a foil and place it in the middle shelf of the oven for about 20-25 minutes.
  9. Switch off the oven and take the dish out.
  10. Add Olive oil and stir.
  11. Delicious Oven baked pasta is ready to be served.


Notes : Prawns can be replaced with the boneless chicken.
