Tomato Chutney

Tomato Chutney taste good for Idlis/Dosas.

Main Ingredient : Vegetables

Ingredients :

 

  • Tomato - 4
  • Onion - 1 small
  • Dried red chillies - 3 for medium spicy or 4 for extra spicy
  • Garlic - 2 cloves
  • Urid dal - 1 tsp (optional)
  • Curry leaves - 7-8
  • Black mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 2 tblsp

Method :
  1. Chop tomatoes and onion.
  2. Peel the Garlic.
  3. Heat a pan and add a tblsp of oil.
  4. Add urid dal and red chillies and fry for about a minute.
  5. Add onion and garlic and fry for about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Remove them from heat and let it cool down for about 5-10 minutes.
  7. Grind them into smooth chutney with tomatoes.
  8. Heat a pan and add rest of the oil.
  9. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves.
  10. Add the ground chutney and salt.
  11. Boil the ground chutney for about 4-5 minutes or until they become saucy.


Notes : Serve it for Idlis/Dosas. Red chilli can be replaced by 1 tsp chilli powder. Urid dal can be replaced by Channa dal.
